Hospital data collection guidelines for new Joint Commission Perinatal Core Measure, continued

New guidelines from the US Breastfeeding Committee have just been published to assist hospitals and maternity facilities in accurately collecting data needed to comply with the exclusive breast milk feeding requirement in the perinatal core measure set from the Joint Commission. Published by the US Breastfeeding Committee (USBC), the new Perinatal Care core measure set includes: elective delivery; cesarean section; antenatal steroids; health-care associated bloodstream infections in newborns; and exclusive breast milk feedings. The guidelines from USBC offer suggestions on how to accurately collect data on exclusive breast milk feeding, with samples from hospitals that already collect this data.
